The cute new born two-toed sloth called 'Truffle' could be seen exploring its surroundings on Thursday, after spending the first few days of life high up in the treetops with mother sloth Marilyn.
Born on August 13 in London's ZSL Zoo, the sex of the sloth is yet to be confirmed. Zoo keepers will need to send off a DNA sample, since sloth's sex organs are internal.
The sloth can be seen with its mother sniffing around and getting accustomed to the new environment.
Truffle is the fifth baby of parents Marilyn and Leander.
The two-toed sloths (Choloepus didactylus) are part of the nocturnal mammals originating in South America. They are slow movers, but good climbers. For six months they cling tightly to their mothers to prepare them for swinging from branch to branch.
The ZSL London Charity Zoo reopened to the public on Monday 15 June after they were forced to close its doors for three months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Entry to the zoo is now limited.
