This emoji is great! 🦥🦥🦥
Emoji are a new way of communication that people of all ages (though mostly younger people) are embracing. Whether you simply use the face emoji to express emotion (😀🤣🥰😡) or you use an array of other interesting emoji to communicate ideas (🗿👺🎎🎅🏿) , these little pictures are without a doubt the way you send text messages, but more and more are also become part of how we all write emails and even communicate at work. Last year the sloth emoji was released, and though some of us had to wait 😞😢, as of 2020 almost all mobile phone operating systems now have the sloth 🦥 emoji 😊😆🥰!!!
Emoji as a word and a concept came to us by way of Japan, where they were first introduced as black and white icons on early mobile phone screens. As a word it is proper to say emoji both for singular and for plural (since it is a Japanese word, not English) although many people often say emojis for plural. Similar to emoji are emoticons and smileys, but as of today the term emoji is used for all of them.
It’s not perfectly clear what inspired the sloth’s inclusion in the set of animal emoji that came out in 2019, but we are very happy to now have it on our phone.
As a fan of these adorable animals, one thing that I do is include sloth emoji in the “status” on my chat app at work. This serves two purposes:
- Everyone knows I love sloths
- No one expects me to respond to quickly!
We have seen the sloth emoji used in other ways. For example if someone is taking too long to respond to a message, you insert a 🦥in the chat to let them know they are taking too long!
Otherwise, if you are taking too long to respond to a conversation, once you get back you reply with a sloth emoji so they know you were taking you sweet time.
The sloth emoji has popped up in work emails. Sometimes managers need to let their team know to chill out and not be so stressed. No better way to say that then with one of these guys: 🦥
We are pretty sure that you are using this emoji. Tell us how! Send us a message on Facebook and share your fun sloth emoji stories!
